The education of young people and adults (EJA) has as historical and cultural subjects groups that are generally marginalized from society, with precarious economic conditions, excluded from cultural spaces and goods. This article presents aspects of the reality of an EJA student. This work was developed from interviews with an EJA student. We propose an analysis and reflection on the EJA in a critical perspective from the profile of the EJA student with emphasis on access and permanence at school, expectations, difficulties and facilities faced, study conditions, work and family before and in times of pandemic Covid-19. It was found that the EJA student has difficulties with remote classes. In the studies and reflections carried out, we pointed out the need for a democratic and autonomous pedagogical project to meet the conditions of the EJA public in the educational process for human formation.
