ABSTRACT
This study qualitative analyzes preceptorship from the perspective of nurses in an emergency and urgency service of a federal teaching hospital. Had the participation of 12 nurses, through semi-structured interview. In the data analysis, the thematic content analysis technique was used. It was found that the nurses interviewed considered that preceptorship is an exchange of knowledge between preceptors and students and that being a preceptor means learning, teaching and relating among the work teams. The most cited tutoring activities were pedagogical, nursing and administrative / management practices. Respondents said that preceptorship contributes to professional development and personal fulfillment. It was concluded, from the nurses' perspective, that preceptorship contributed to professional development and personal fulfillment, and suggested improvements in the administrative and pedagogical organization of preceptorship.
