O sofrimento mental de enfermeiros que atuam na atenção primária em um município do sudoeste goiano

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The transformations that occurred in the last decades in the world of work have had an impact on the health of individuals and on the collective of workers, especially in the field of mental health (ELIAS, NAVARRO, 2006). In this context with great emphasis are the professional nurses who are highly affected by emotional factors during the development of activities. The objective of this study was to analyze the mental suffering of nurses working in Primary Care in a municipality in southwest Goiás. This is a descriptive and transversal study of a qualitative nature. The data were collected during the months of November and December of 2017, through an individual interview, with a semistructured questionnaire, totaling nine nurses working in Primary Care in the city of Jataí / GO. The data obtained were analyzed by applying the content analysis, with emphasis on the thematic modality. The qualitative results specified three categories according to the data collected: psychophysiological changes of the nurses, satisfaction and dissatisfaction with the nursing profession and feelings experienced by the nurses in their work process. In the approach with the nurses it was possible to perceive how much the mental health of these professionals is impaired, where the great majority presents some type of suffering related to the development of the profession. It is recommended that these professionals be supported in their work process through resilience so that they resolve or ameliorate their mental suffering together with strategies that meet the needs of these professionals.
