Abstract

This article analyzes the fairy tale, Ophelia, the sheep, by Marina Colasanti, its main goal is to analyze the relation between imaginary and education. Fairy tales play a prominent role in this context, since they present symbolic-archetypal and metaphorical richness to the context of educational imaginary by projecting necessary images to human Bildung. It is relevant to mention that artistic-literary manifestations (fairy tales, fables, comic books, poems, cartoons, various stories, among others) provide clues to understand the collective psyche, when introduced early to children. Through a study based on the philosophy of educational imaginary, analytical psychology and the mythological reading of the Colasantian tale, the latent presence of the Narcissus myth is unveiled. This myth serves as an image for a sensitive education during the period of personality-building. In addition, in the light of self-image, children are encouraged to develop imagination about self-knowledge and self-esteem, which are essential conditions for autonomous social and affective interactions.
